23 Soldiers have been killed in the Naxalite attack on the border of Bijapur and Sukma .

Maoists and security forces were killed on Saturday at Bijapur and Sukma border, about 400 kms from Raipur, and on Sunday, news came that 23 soldiers were killed and 31 security personnel were injured.

This Naxalite attack is the biggest Naxalite incident of this year so far. Since the 2010 Chintalnar massacre, more than 175 soldiers have been martyred in Naxal-affected areas of Dantewada, Sukma, Bijapur. 76 CRPF personnel were killed in the Chintalnar encounter. Since this attack, many types of questions are arising, such as strategic lapses, failure of intelligence department, mutual coordination among the soldiers.

Conflict has been going on in the Bastar area between the security forces and the Maoists for the last 40 years. According to a Home Department report, ever since Chhattisgarh became a separate state, more than 3200 encounters and Naxalite attack incidents have taken place. From January 2001 to 2019, 1234 jawans have been martyred and 1002 Maoists have been killed in Maoist violence.

Between 2001 and 2009, 1782 ordinary civilians died in the struggle between the security forces and the Maoists. At the same time, about 4 thousand Maoists have surrendered. As of November 2020, 31 Maoists have died in Chhattisgarh and 270 have surrendered .
