Rajesh Bhushan, Secretary of the Ministry of Health, told in a press conference on Wednesday that the lowest point of new cases of corona was 9 February. At the same time, every week there is an increase of about 43% in new cases of corona and 37% in new cases week-by-week. Bhushan told that in 70 districts of 16 states, there has been a 150% increase in corona cases in the last 15 days.
Regarding the condition of corona in Maharashtra, the Health Secretary has stated that 60 percent of the total active cases of corona in the country are from Maharashtra. He said that on March 1, Maharashtra’s positive rate was around 11 percent, which has now increased to more than 16 percent. It is a matter of concern that if the test is not increasing as fast as the cases are increasing here, then there is a need to increase the testing here. Regarding Punjab, he said that the positivity rate of Punjab was 3.4%, which has now increased to 6.8%, this is worrying.
Rajesh Bhushan has stated that there have been no deaths from corona in the last 24 hours in 15 states and union territories and the recovery rate is 96.56 per cent. Despite rising corona cases in some states, active cases account for two percent of the total cases in the country and the death rate is less than two percent. The cumulative positive rate across the country has also come down to less than 5 percent.
