Hyderabad sees heavy downpour on Sunday

Some regions in Medchal-Malkajgiri district, especially the Kapra area recorded a heavy rainfall of 68 mm.

Hyderabad: Light to heavy rainfall lashed several parts of Hyderabad on Sunday, which brought down minimum temperatures across the twin cities. Some regions in Medchal-Malkajgiri district, especially the Kapra area recorded a heavy rainfall of 68 mm, according to the rainfall data from the Automatic Weather Stations (AWS) that are operated by Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSPDS).

Malkajgiri also reported heavy rainfall with weather stations recording the rainfall data at 51.5 mm of rainfall on Sunday evening. The regions in Secunderabad and Alwal received rainfall of 20.8 mm and 21.8 mm respectively. While most of the city experienced very light to light rainfall that ranged from 0.1 mm to 15.5 mm of rainfall, some areas like Alwal, Malkajgiri, Secunderabad saw moderate rainfall.

Qutubullapur, Kukatpally, Yousufguda, Khairatabad, Begumpet, Musheerabad, Amberpet, Karwan, Malakpet, Saroornagar, LB Nagar and Hayathnagar zones saw light rainfall while Uppal, Jubilee Hills, Goshamahal, Charminar, Falaknuma saw very slight rainfall.

The rains cooled the city down significantly, as the temperatures recorded at various places on Sunday afternoon hovered between 23 and 26 degree Celsius. On its part, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) recorded a maximum temperature of 29 degree Celsius.

The weather is expected to be similar till June 30, with rain or thundershowers expected towards evening and the maximum temperature is expected to be in the 29-31 degree Celsius range. The minimum temperature is also expected to be around 22-24 degree Celsius over the next few days, making both days and nights pleasant.
