Vibrating bin triggers bomb scare, and then laughter at Hyderabad Metro Station

The Metro officials immediately alerted the SR Nagar police, who rushed to the spot along with the Bomb Disposal Squad and a team of sniffer dogs.

Hyderabad: A trash bin that began vibrating strangely triggered moments of panic at the Ameerpet Metro Station on Tuesday morning. With people alerting the security, who suspected a bomb, it was all panic as people were asked to move away from the vibrating bin.

The Metro officials immediately alerted the SR Nagar police, who rushed to the spot along with the Bomb Disposal Squad and a team of sniffer dogs. The mystery of the vibrating bin did not last long after the Bomb Squad came, with the cops finding a mobile phone in the bin. Lost or abandoned, the mobile phone was ringing in silent mode, which set off the vibrating in the bin.

Tension gave way to laughter and relief as police and Metro officials confirmed it was a false alarm, and that there was no bomb.

Train services remained unaffected with movement of commuters too resuming soon after the mystery was solved. Efforts are on to find how the phone ended up in the trash bin.
