AAP MLA Somnath Bharti convicted in assault case

A court in the Delhi has convicted Somnath Bharti in a case of assault with AIIMS security staff. He was also sentenced to two years jail, although he has got anticipatory bail by filing a petition in the High Court.

On the other hand, four other accused were acquitted by the court.

The incident took place in 2016 where the Chief Security Officer of AIIMS lodged a report at Hauz Khas police station. In which he said that AAP MLA Somnath Bharti along with his colleagues reached AIIMS and beat up the security personnel.

On the basis of this complaint, Delhi Police filed a case against Somnath Bharti in various sections including obstructing government work, damaging government property and inciting riots
