BJP wants Sindhu to replace Sania Mirza as Telangana brand ambassador

Hyderabad: The Bharatiya Janata Party legislator from Goshamahal T Raja Singh has urged the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to make shuttle player and Tokyo Olympics bronze medallist PV Sindhu as brand ambassador of Telangana instead of tennis player Sania Mirza.

Calling Sania Mirza as daughter-in-law of Pakistan, Singh urged to drop Sania Mirza as the brand ambassador of Telangana. Sania Mirza and debutant Ankita Raina were knocked out of Tokyo Olympics.

In a short video released here, Singh said that Sindhu, who returned to the city on Wednesday, was the first woman to win two Olympic medals. Sindhu brought recognition to India and Telangana by winning the medal at Tokyo Olympics.

He urged the Chief Minister to lay special focus on development of sports in the State to bring out talent among the sports persons. “We request the Chief Minister to develop the sports complexes and stadiums of every sport in the State,” he said.
