CBI to investigate the 1994 espionage case against scientist Nambi Narayanan.

The spying case of former Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) scientist Nambi Narayanan was heard in the Supreme Court on Thursday.

The court has ordered the CBI to investigate the 1994 espionage case against scientist Nambi Narayanan. Narayanan has welcomed a probe by the central agency into the alleged conspiracy to implicate him in the case. The former ISRO scientist said after the decision that he is happy.


The Supreme Court has given the CBI three months’ time to investigate the entire matter, the CBI will have to submit its investigation report to the court within three months. A high-level inquiry committee formed in this matter in 2018 recently submitted its report to the Supreme Court. In the year 2018 ,the Supreme Court acquitted Nambi Narayanan in the 1994 spying case and directed the Kerala government to pay him a compensation of Rs 50 lakh.
