The Union Health Ministry has asked the states to report all cases of black fungus. It has been said on behalf of the ministry that all government and private health services and medical colleges will follow the guidelines issued by MoHFW and ICMR. After this order of the Center, now all the states will inform the Ministry of Health about the case of black fungus.
States like Haryana, Rajasthan and Telangana have already declared Black Fungus an epidemic. In a letter written to the states, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Love Agarwal said that all government and private health services and medical colleges have to follow the guidelines of ICMR and Mohfw for screening, diagnosis, management of black fungus.
AIIMS director Dr. Randeep Guleria has said that fungal infections were seen even before the corona virus but it was very rare. It is seen in people with high sugar, diabetes uncontrolled, low immunity, or cancer patients who are on chemotherapy.
