Congress Party President Election postponed.

Congress Working Committee (CWC) has met on Monday. At the meeting, Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi expressed disappointment over the party's performance in the assembly elections held in five states.

At the same time, she has also expressed disappointment with the central government’s methods of dealing with Corona. The meeting also talked about the full-time president of the Congress. Sonia Gandhi has told that elections are to be held in June to elect the new president and its schedule is ready. However, senior party leaders said that the new president should not be elected in the kind of crisis that Corona is facing. After which the decision was taken to postpone the election. There will no longer be elections in June.


Speaking on the meeting of the Congress Working Committee, on Monday, Sonia Gandhi said, “When we had a meeting on January 22, it had decided in it that the full-time president of the Congress would be elected by the middle of June. Election Authority chief Madhusudan Mistry has prepared the entire schedule of the election. They will give you information about it, after which you give your suggestions on it.” After this, senior Congress leaders including Ashok Gehlot, Anand Sharma and Ghulam Nabi Azad said that elections should not be held in this Corona crisis.
After the defeat of Congress in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi resigned from the post of President. After which Sonia Gandhi was elected the interim president.
