The Central Public Works Department, the nodal agency of the Central Vista Scheme for the new Vice President and Prime Minister’s residence said, “the new residence of the Vice President and the Prime Minister will be ready in May and December respectively,” as the Expert Appraisal Committee of the Ministry of Environment ( EAC) has given the necessary clearances for the rest of the buildings to be built under the scheme. Common Central Secretariat and Special Protection Group (SPG) building will also be built in the new parliament building to be built under the project.
In its report submitted to the ministry, the CPWD stated that the construction work of the Parliament would be completed by November 2022. The construction of the Vice-Presidential Building will be completed by May 2022 and the construction of the Prime Minister’s House and the SPG Bhavan will be completed by December 2022. The cost of the project, which also includes the Common Central Secretariat, is estimated at Rs 13,450 crore.
