Hyderabad: The overall crime rate in Hyderabad has come down by 10 per cent with 20012 cases registered as against 22641 the previous year. The cases booked in 2019 were 25,187.
City Police commissioner Anjani Kumar said the city ranks 18th when it comes to crime rate at the national level.
He said that there is a significant decrease in grave property offences like robberies, house break, dacoity and thefts. He said cases of POCSO did increase in the city this year.
The Commissioner said the police invoked PD Act against several notorious criminals and solved many sensational cases.
Anjani Kumar said the city police are helping Hyderabad maintain its cultural identity by holding the annual round meeting up at places of historic importance.
