Cyberabad police book actor Sai Dharam Tej for rash driving
Actor Sai Dharam Tej met with an accident in Hyderabad on Friday evening.
In an accident on September 10 night at Hitec City in Hyderabad, actor Sai Dharam Tej had sustained a fracture to his collarbone, and injuries on his chest and stomach. After inspecting CCTV footage and taking statements from eyewitnesses, the police have said that the actor was driving negligently at a high speed, which led to his high-end sports bike skidding on the road. A case under Section 279 (rash driving) and Section 336 (A rash or negligent act which endangers human life or the personal safety of others) of the Indian Penal Code, and section 184 of the Motor Vehicle Act (driving motor vehicle at a speed or in a manner which is dangerous to the public) was registered against Sai Dharam Tej on Saturday, September 11 by the Raidurgam police.
Police said that the presence of sand on the road also caused the accident. The actor is presently availing treatment in Apollo Hospital, Jubilee Hills. Meanwhile, doctors said that the actor’s health condition is stable. However, he will continue to be in the Intensive Care Unit.
On Friday evening at around 8 pm, the actor met with the accident, while he was trying to overtake an autorickshaw from the left side. However, as the vehicle was at a high speed, he lost control after going over a patch of sand. Under the impact, the actor along with the bike were dragged on the road for a few meters. Fortunately, there were not many vehicles at the time of the incident. The actor was also wearing a helmet, which minimised the injuries to his head.
“We have filed a Suo Moto case against the actor. We spoke with the person who called the police after the accident, spoke with the eyewitnesses and did a video analysis. Based on this we filed a case of rash and negligent driving in the Raidurgam police station,” said Madhapur Deputy Commissioner of Police Venkateshwarulu.
Sai Dharam Tej is the nephew of Megastar Chiranjeevi. Several of his family members including Pawan Kalyan, Allu Aravind, Niharika, his brother Varun Tej, and other actors like Sandeep Kishan and Prakash Raj visited the hospital to check on his health.
Meanwhile, according to latest reports, the actor has gained consciousness. Police said that they will take a statement from the actor after his health stabilizes.
