Development of Manair riverfront, a grand project: KTR

“This project will not confine to Karimnagar but will be a popular tourist attraction for entire Telangana,” he said

Hyderabad: Industries Minister KT Rama Rao stressed on the need to develop the River Manair Development Front as a marvelous project than all the other projects in the country.

To achieve this, all the departments, including irrigation, tourism, R&B, revenue, Municipal Administration and others should work in coordination, he said during the coordination meeting to discuss modalities on River Manair Development Front here on Saturday.

Addressing on the occasion, the Minister said there was a need to set up a special purpose vehicle or exclusive authority for taking up the project.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s pet project Kaleshwaram facilitated an opportunity for River Manair Front Development project. The Chief Minister designed the Kaleshwaram project in a way to promote agriculture and allied sectors growth, besides to boost tourism prospects, he said.

Already, the Chief Minister has released Rs.310 crore for the project, which needs to be taken up with impressive designs, the Minister said.

Most cities have developed River Front projects in capital regions but it was Chief Minister’s vision to execute tourist  destination in Karimnagar that aided in planning such a mammoth project, he said.

“This project will not confine to Karimnagar but will be a popular tourist attraction for entire Telangana. Once the entire project gets complete, there will be lot of visitors flow from Hyderabad and Warangal” said Rama Rao.

Already, efforts were being made to set up more IT companies in Karimnagar at the IT Tower. After River Manair Development Front project is completed, it will further boost development in Karimnagar, the Minister informed.

Revenue department should expedite land acquisition and extend its support to irrigation department in taking up the project, he added.

Civil Supplies Minister G Kamalakar said the proposed special purpose vehicle will be entrusted with the task of floating tenders for execution of the project. This exercise should be taken up at the earliest, he instructed the officials, who participated in the meeting.

Already four check dams have been constructed as part of the River Manair Development Front and works pertaining to another check dam and cable bridge were in the final phase, he said.

“Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is  personally monitoring the River Manair Development project. We thank the Chief Minister for permitting such a project, which will aid in Karimnagar’s development” said Kamalakar.
