Former TRS minister Etela Rajender resigns as MLA, set to join BJP

Earlier, he paid tributes at the Telangana Martyrs Memorial at Gun Park along with his followers. The former Minister is currently facing land encroachment charges for occupying assigned and endowment lands

Hyderabad: Former Minister and Huzurabad MLA Eatala Rajender resigned to his MLA post. He submitted his resignation letter in the Assembly Speaker’s office here on Saturday.

Earlier, he paid tributes at the Telangana Martyrs Memorial at along with his followers. The former Minister is currently facing land encroachment charges for occupying assigned and endowment lands at Masaipet, Devaryamjal and Ravalkole. Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao ordered for a probe into these allegations and dropped him from the State Cabinet.

Speaking to media pesons at Gun Park, Rajender said people of Huzurabad constituency had elected him as an MLA repeatedly and he would continue to serve them in an individual capacity as well. He urged the intellectuals to understand the circumstances that compelled him to resign and urged them to support his fight for people of Telangana State. He reminded that he didn’t lose a single election in last 17 years.

“We fought for Telangana State to ensure that people of Telangana enjoy it’s fruits. I am resigning to fight for self-respect and seek public support. But a few people who got elected from other parties are shamelessly working as Ministers without resigning to their posts,” he said.

He vowed to move forward with the resolution to realised the dreams of Telangana martyrs. He alleged that democracy was in danger in the State and it was time that like-minded people unite to fight for people of Telangana State.
