Home Minister Amit Shah has cancelled a two-day visit to West Bengal. He has taken this decision due to the situation created by the farmers’ agitation in Delhi and the blasts near the Israeli embassy.

A senior BJP leader said that the decision was taken after an explosion near the Israeli embassy in New Delhi on Friday evening, following which authorities have decided to increase security by issuing a high alert in New Delhi.

Amit Shah was to reach the capital of West Bengal, Kolkata on Friday at 11 pm. Shah’s visit was considered to be very important in West Bengal ahead of elections. There were speculations that some leaders of TMC could join the BJP.
Shah also visited West Bengal last month, in which several big leaders, including Shubhendu Adhikari, joined the BJP.

Bharatiya Janata Party President Dilip Ghosh said in Bengal, “Shah is not coming today or Saturday. His visit has been postponed. Further dates will be given later.”
