Hyderabad: A Central Reserve Police Force constable died, allegedly after he shot himself at Miyapur here, on Wednesday.

The Constable, Thakur Shankar alias Rathod Shankar (30), a native of Gujarat, was posted at the CRPF camp at Nadigadda Thanda in Miyapur since 2016. Police said Rathod Shankar was upset over family problems for the last few days. He allegedly shot himself with his service weapon in the barracks in the evening.

“He shot himself in the head, with the bullet having an entry and exit from his skull. He died on the spot,” the Miyapur police said, adding that other officers at the camp heard the firing sound and rushed to the spot to find him lying in a pool of blood. They tried to shift him to the hospital, but he was dead by then. The Commandant of the battalion then alerted the Miyapur police, who recovered the firearm from the spot. The gun has been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory for scientific examination while a CLUES team also visited the spot and collected samples.

No suicide note was found at the spot and enquiries with relatives and colleagues indicated Rathod Shankar was upset over issues in his personal life, officials said, adding all possible angles were being probed.

The body was shifted to the Osmania General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
