Hyderabad: Amid increased threat perception, the security to the suspended Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator T Raja Singh has been increased in jail.
Since being lodged at the Cherlapally jail under the stringent Preventive Detention (PD) Act, the BJP MLA has been detained at Manasa barrack. On Friday morning after reviewing security parameters, the Telangana prisons department shifted Raja Singh to the Shraddha barrack on the same jail premises.
The arrested legislator had been lodged under solitary confinement in a separate barrack but due to threat perception, he was shifted to another barrack.
The state authorities reportedly took the decison to shift the legislator, based on inputs from the intelligence department, fearing a possible threat from ISIS sympathisers lodged at the Cherapally jail.
Raja Singh was detained under PD Act after he raged a controversy by releasing a “comedy video” where he made derogatory remarks against the prophet Muhammad, last month.
