Hyderabad: Two accused nabbed for selling artificial gold

The accused identified as a Ch. Satyanarayana (43) and C.Vasu (34) both are friends, residents of Sowbhagya Nagar in LB Nagar.

Hyderabad: The Vanasthalipuram police on Thursday arrested two persons on charges of selling fake gold as pure gold at a lower rate, and recovered Rs.2 lakh from them.

The arrested persons are Ch.Satyanarayana (43), an automobile mechanic and C.Vasu (34), a private employee, friends and residents of Sowbhagya Nagar in LB Nagar. Satyanarayana was earlier involved in similar case and was arrested by the Andhra Pradesh police.

According to the police, a month ago Satyanarayana met Vasu with a plan to cheat people by selling them fake gold in the guise of pure gold. Vasu agreed to help and they approached Nagamani, a push cart vendor.

Claiming it to be pure gold, they handed over the fake gold to her and collected Rs.2.3 lakh. Nagamani later realized she was cheated and approached the police.

Following a complaint, the Vanasthalipuram police booked a case and with the help of CCTV footage, identified and nabbed the suspects.
