KCR announces welfare scheme for weavers

The scheme aimed at economic empowerment of the weavers in the State will be launched soon once the modalities of implementation are finalized

Hyderabad: Close on the heels of the announcement of the path-breaking ‘Telangana Dalit Bandhu’ for empowerment of Dalits in the State, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Friday announced another major initiative – Chenetha Bima- for the welfare of weavers’ community in the State.

“This scheme aimed at economic empowerment of the weavers in the State will be launched soon once the modalities of implementation are finalized,” the Chief Minister said at a function at Telangana Bhavan to welcome BJP leader and former Minister E Peddi Reddy and leaders from the weavers’ community into the party fold.

Reiterating that Dalit Bandhu would be implemented in a phased manner, Chandrashekhar Rao said: “The government will continue on the path of development that it has adopted. The State is moving on the right path and has a bright future. This is also evident from the announcements by the Central government in Parliament in the ongoing Monsoon session about Telangana emerging as the top State in one field or the other.”
