Lizard in cold drink: Ahmedabad McDonald’s area manager laughed over my complaint, says customer

Recently, aMcDonald’s outlet on Ahmedabad’s Science City Road was sealedby the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) after a dead lizard was found in a customer’s drink.

When the customers complained about the same, the manager did not pay much heed.

Talking about the same, customer Bhargava Joshi, who had previously posted a video of the incident on Twitter said, “Lizard was found in my soft drink at a McDonald’s outlet. Area manager laughed over complaint and told us that he’ll check (CCTV)cameras. He didn’t return, meanwhile, order continues. When we pressed them to take action, they offered to return bill amount.”

The video posted by Bhargava immediately took the internet by storm. The AMC took the matter into cognizance and after checking, they sealed the outlet.

They took the sample of the cold drink and sent it to the Public Health Laboratory.

LIZARD IN COLD DRINK

For the unversed, the incident took place on Saturday when two men who were drinking Coke at McDonald’s spotted a lizard in one of their drinks.

One of the customers named Bhargava posted a video on Twitter that garnered the attention of the netizens as well as officials.

McDonald’s also issued an official statement saying that they value cleanliness and hygiene at their outlets.

“At McDonald’s, we are committed to ensuring the safety and hygiene of all our customers. Quality, Service, Cleanliness and Value are at the core of our business operations. Furthermore, as part of our Golden Guarantee programme, we have implemented 42 strict safety and hygiene protocols across all our McDonald’s restaurants, which include strict processes for regular kitchen and restaurant cleaning and sanitization, among others. We are looking into this incident that is alleged to have taken place at the Ahmedabad outlet. While we have checked repeatedly and found nothing wrong, we are cooperating with the authorities, being a good corporate citizen,” said McDonald’s.
