Nirmal’s low-lying areas inundated, Indrakaran Reddy swiftly swings into action

Nirmal: Forest Minister Indrakaran Reddy swiftly swung into action, visiting several parts of Nirmal town which were affected by incessant rains, braving the downpour from early Thursday morning.

Carrying an umbrella and wading through knee-deep water, Indrakaran toured Manjulapur, Siddapur, Mancherial Chowrasta, Sofinagar. He interacted with the residents hit by floods and assured them of all support. He instructed the officials concerned and the public to be cautious of the downpour and flooding. He convened a review meeting with district authorities and instructed them to solve the problems faced by the people affected by the floods.

Indrakaran requested the public not to panic over the floods. He stated that both public representatives and officials concerned were monitoring rescue operations by touring the flood-hit areas. He sought citizens to provide shelter to the families who were rescued by NDRF teams. He stated that people living in low-lying areas were being shifted to safer places.

The Minister further said that irrigation projects and tanks were brimmed, while streams were overflowing following rains in upstream areas. He stated that many colonies of Nirmal were submerged. He said that 300 persons were stranded and more NDRF teams would reach Nirmal by evening for taking up rescue operations.

He was accompanied by Municipal Chairman Gandrath Eshwar, Collector Musharraf Faruqui Ali and Municipal Commissioner Balakrishna.

In the meantime, Mudhole MLA G Vittal Reddy also visited the flood-affected areas in his Assembly constituency. He toured Kotha Venkure village Kuntala and Gundegaon village of Bhainsa mandal, which were inundated by the floods. He urged the locals to be alert and officials to be cautious of the floods.
