PM Modi released Postage stamp on the centenary occasion of ‘Chauri Chaura’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the Chauri Chaura Centenary celebrations in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh through video conferencing. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was also present at the event. PM Modi also released a postage stamp on the occasion.

Addressing the people on the occasion, PM Modi said, “I pay my respects at the feet of the brave martyrs who sacrificed for the country on the holy land of Chauri Chaura, giving a new direction to the freedom struggle of the country.”

PM Modi said , “what happened in Chauri Chaura 100 years ago was not just an arson incident. This was not just an incident of setting fire to the police station, Chauri Chaura’s message was very big and widespread. Whenever Chauri-Chaura was talked about for many reasons, it was seen only in the context of a minor arson, but in what circumstances the arson happened, what was the reason, it is equally important.

The fire was not just in the police station, the fire had ignited in the hearts of the people. The place which is being linked to the historical struggle of Chauri-Chaura is in the history of the country today, it is commendable.”

PM Modi said, “these programs, starting today, will be held throughout the year. During this time, along with Chauri Chaura, heroic sacrifices of every village, every region will also be remembered.

An effort has been made to link these programs of Chauri Chaura century with local arts, culture and self-reliance. These efforts will also be a tribute to our freedom fighters.”
