Rains continue to lash parts of Hyderabad

While only a few stations recorded rain till late afternoon, most parts of the city witness rain in the evening, after 7 pm

Hyderabad: Wednesday afternoon saw showers in various parts of the city and an overall cloud cover that put the day’s average maximum temperature at 27.4 degree Celsius. This is 4 degree Celsius less than the normal, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).

Areas like Bachupally, Shaikpet and Charminar recorded a maximum temperature of a degree lesser than that, ranging between 26.0 degree Celsius and 27 degree Celsius.

According to the data recorded at different Automatic Weather Stations (AWS) run by Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS), most of the city saw light rainfall between 1.3 mm and and 8.8 mm. The lowest rainfall seen in the city, at 1 mm, was recorded at LB Nagar and the highest was recorded at the AWS at Kapra, at 8.8 mm of rain.

While only a few stations recorded rain till late afternoon, most of the city saw rain in the evening, especially after 7 pm. Northern parts of the city saw more rain compared to the rest of the city.

The IMD also recorded a westerly wind of 7.5 kilometres per hour (KMPH) in the city, with a 73 per cent relative humidity.

TSDPS and IMD both forecast light to moderate rain or thundershowers at many places in the city in the next two-three days, with generally cloudy skies.

Apart from this, the IMD also issued a very heavy to extremely heavy rain warning at Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad and Nirmal districts while it forecasts a heavy rain in many parts of Northern Telangana in the next couple of days.
