SC dismissed Maharashtra Government and former State Home Minister’s petition.

The Supreme Court has dismissed the petition of Maharashtra Government and former State Home Minister Anil Deshmukh.

In the petition, the Bombay High Court order of CBI inquiry against Anil Deshmukh’s allegations against former Mumbai Police Commissioner Parambir Singh had been challenged.

Before the petition was dismissed, the Supreme Court termed the allegations as serious and stated the need for an independent inquiry into it. During the hearing in the Supreme Court, Justice SK Kaul said “the allegations are serious. The Home Minister and the Police Commissioner are involved in this. They were both in a position and were working together until they were separated. Shouldn’t the CBI investigate it Should? Given the nature of the allegations and the people involved, this needs independent investigation. “
