Singapore High Commissioner meets KTR, says companies keen to invest in TS

The Minister said “if Singapore companies evinced interest in investing in Telangana, the State Government would set up an exclusive zone or Singapore hub”.

Hyderabad: Singapore High Commissioner in India Simon Wong said there were many investment opportunities in different emerging sectors in Telangana and the same will be introduced to companies and investors in Singapore.

He assured all support to Telangana Government in this regard. The Singapore High Commissioner met Industries Minister KT Rama Rao at Pragathi Bhavan here on Tuesday.

The Minister said “if Singapore companies evinced interest in investing in Telangana, the State Government would set up an exclusive zone or Singapore hub”.

Complimenting the Minister for coming up with the idea of setting up exclusive Singapore hub, the Singapore High Commissioner Simon Wong said when he was working in Vietnam, similar initiative was taken up to draw investments and has been successfully operational since then.

“We will definitely consider this proposal positively ” Simon Wong said. He further said companies like DBS, which have invested in Telangana, have given a positive feedback about conducive atmosphere in the State.

Singapore companies are keen in investing in IT, innovation and allied sectors and block chain sectors. Through T-Hub, the conducive atmosphere in IT Ecosystem and innovations in the city were derived, he informed.

“Apart from advanced sectors, Singapore companies were keen in investing in Agriculture and food processing sectors” said Simon Wong.

During the meeting, the Industries Minister briefed about the cosmopolitan culture of Hyderabad prevailing in the city since centuries. People from different States and countries have been working in the city since many years, the Minister said.

He further explained to the Singapore High Commissioner that Telangana Government has been successful in drawing investments from different countries with its investment-friendly policies, TS-iPASS and single window approval system.

“Considering the severe competition for drawing international investments, Telangana was not only competing with other States in the country but striving hard to impress international companies” said Rama Rao.

The Minister said there were plenty of opportunities in life sciences, pharma, IT, textiles, food processing, agriculture and other sectors in the State. Already, many companies from Singapore have invested in different sectors in Telangana and have been continuing their operations comfortably, he said.

The Minister later felicitated the Singapore delegation, including Singapore Consul General in Chennai Pong Kok Tian.
