Telangana government to issue new ration cards
Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has announced the issuance of new ration cards to eligible residents of the state.
However, before issuing new ration cards, the government is determined to cancel fake ration cards in circulation.
According to an estimate, there are about 8 lakh fake ration cards in circulation. A final decision in this regard can be taken after a high level meeting with the Chief Minister.
Ration officials have already canceled around 10 lakh fake ration cards after identifying those families from the state where there are more than one card in the same family,one white and another pink. There are also the cards whose members are absent or dead and the ration card is still in circulation.
No new ration cards were issued in the state for a long time and people were eagerly waiting for the new ration cards to be issued. There are a large number of applications for new ration cards in each district of the state, which are being verified. More than 1.65 lakh applications are pending in Greater Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy district itself.
