Twitter started removal of objectionable accounts

Following the government directive, Twitter has started taking action against such accounts. Twitter has started blocking objectionable Twitter accounts. In fact, Twitter has taken this step to avoid possible arrest of high officials of its company and to avoid any kind of financial penalty.

A statement from Twitter said that it is monitoring the entire issue and is taking action against the Twitter account in the list sent by the government under Section 69A of the IT Act.
According to Twitter, around 709 accounts have been deactivated so far. According to sources, 257 of these Twitter handles have tweeted using the hashtag #ModiPlanningFarmerGenocide .

Out of this 126 Twitter handles have already been blocked. Although it has been clarified by Twitter that India has freedom of thought as per law, action has not been taken against the accounts of media, journalists, activists and leaders.
