Four Officials suspended after EVMs found in the car of BJP MLA in Assam.

Four officials have been suspended after EVMs were found in the car of a candidate of the ruling BJP after the second phase of polling in Assam on Thursday.

Opposition Congress and AIUDF have strongly objected to this after the EVM was found in the car of the BJP candidate. After which the Election Commission has suspended four polling officers.
It has been said by the Election Commission that information about the entire incident has been obtained. Action has been taken on four officers. The investigation is still going on and action will be taken against whoever is found guilty of negligence in the case. The Commission has also made it clear that there has been no tampering of any EVMs and all were transported to a safe strong room.


The case came to light late Thursday after the second phase of polling in Assam, when some people claimed to have EVMs in a car. This car belongs to Krishnendu Paul, MLA and BJP candidate from Patharkandi seat in Karimganj district. There was an uproar after its pictures and videos appeared on social media. After which parties like Congress and AIUDF raised questions about this matter. Assam Congress President Ripun Bora even talked about the election bycott if there was no fair action in the case. After which the Election Commission has given its favor by suspending the polling officers in the case.
