Warangal: In a ghastly incident, three members of a family including a woman were brutally hacked to death at their residence in LB Nagar under Inthezar gunj police limits here in the early hours of Wednesday. Two more young members of the family were also seriously injured in the attack.

“The deceased have been identified as Mohammad Chand pasha (50), a cattle trader, his wife Sabeera (42) and brother-in-law (Sabeera’s brother) Khaleel (40). All three succumbed to grievous injuries on the spot,” Warangal police commissioner Dr Tarun Joshi told Telangana Today. Chand pasha’s two sons, Samad (24) and Fahad (20), were seriously injured and have been admitted to MGM Hospital.

“Dispute between Chand pasha and his younger brother Mohammad Shafi (second of three brothers) over sharing of profits in the business is suspected to be the motive behind the brutal murder of the family,” Dr Joshi said. The murder took place around 3 am when Shafi along with four or five persons came to Pasha’s house, broke open the door and attacked them mercilessly with hunting sickles and knives. Pasha’s daughter, a married woman, was witness to the horrific killing.

“Unfortunately, Khaleel, a resident of Kesamudram, who came to see his sister yesterday, was also killed in the incident. It appears that Khaleel had tried to stop the killers from attacking his sister and her husband, but it was in vain,” the CP said, adding that Shafi had a grudge against his elder brother since he was not sharing profits that he was entitled to from the cattle business. They were into wholesale trade of cattle.

“It is alleged that Pasha did not share the profits with Shafi despite several discussions among the elders of the family and community. It was a dispute over sharing of over Rs one core. The dispute has been going on for the past three years,” Dr Joshi said and added that they had taken the accused into custody and are questioning them.

The condition of the injured was stable. Dr Tarun Joshi along with ACP Giri Kumar visited the spot and enquired about the incident that created a sensation in the city. The bodies have been shifted to the mortuary for postmortem. Intezargunj police are enquiring into the case..
