Babri Mosque demolition case: Acquittal was challenged in Allahabad High Court

Lucknow Jan 08: A petition was moved in Allahabad High court challenging the acquittal of 32 accused in the Babri Masjid demolition case.

The special CBI court, Lucknow has acquitted all the accused including BJP leaders LK Advani, MM Joshi and Uma Bharthi in the Babri Masjid demolition case on September 30, 2020.

The CBI witnesses, however, filed a petition in the Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court against the acquittals all the accused in this case.
The petition was moved almost 100 days after when the deadline for CBI to challenge the verdict in a higher court expired after 90 days.

The petitioners informed the court that the delay was owing to the CBI, as they have failed to respond to their plea to challenge the acquittal.

Hafiz Syed Akhlaq, 80 and Haji Mahboob, 70 whose houses were torched by the mob on Dec, 6 1992.
