Congress candidate Solanki attempted suicide alleging a glitch in the EVM machine

AHMEDABAD – A Congress candidate attempted suicide during the counting of votes for the Assembly elections in Gujarat. Bharatbhai Veljibhai Solanki, the Congress candidate from Gandhidham constituency, attempted suicide, accusing him of tampering with the EVM machine. When he was trying to commit suicide by tying a scarf around his neck, the police and other staff stopped him.

Congress candidate Bharatbhai Veljibhai Solanki was trailing BJP candidate Malti Kishore Maheshwari by more than 12,000 votes. Solanki alleged that some EVMs were not sealed properly.
