Mobile phone snatching gang held in Hyderabad

The Banjara Hills police arrested a four-member mobile phone snatching gang involved in six cases here on Friday. Police recovered eight mobile phones from them.

Hyderabad: The Banjara Hills police arrested a four-member mobile phone snatching gang involved in six cases here on Friday. Police recovered eight mobile phones from them.

The arrested persons are Mohd.Khaja Pasha alias Khaja (19), a painter, Mohd.Sabeel (19), a degree student, Shaik Sohail (19), a painter and M.Pavan Kumar (20), all residents of Singadikunta in Banjara Hills. They are involved in cases in Golconda, Jubilee Hills and Banjara Hills.

The four suspects are close friends and belong to the same neighbourhood. As they do not have a proper source of income, they decided to earn easy money by committing mobile phone snatchings from pedestrians walking alone on secluded roads during the night.

According to the police, recently Pasha bought a bike and they started committing mobile phone snatchings in Raidurgam.

On January 24 night, they met at Singadi Kunta auto stand and after consuming liquor, they went to Tolichowki in Golconda and snatched the mobile phone of a pedestrian. After which, they also snatched the mobile phone of another man in Banjara Hills.

Based on a complaint, the Banjara Hills police booked a case and with the help of the surveillance cameras from the crime spot and surroundings, the suspects were identified and arrested.
