Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan’s daughter-in-law joins BJP, lauds PM Modi for banning Triple Talaq

Nida Khan, the daughter-law of Congress supporter Maulana Taqueer Raza Khan joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday.

New Delhi: Congress supporter and Ittihad-e-Millat Council chief Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan’s daughter-in-law Nida Khan joined the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) in Lucknow on Sunday.

Khan, along with several leaders from Samajwadi Party (SP), Bahujan Samaj Paty (BSP), and Congress joined the party.

Talking to Times Now, she heaped praises on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for banning Triple Talaq and expressed confidence that Muslim women will vote for the BJP in the upcoming elections in Uttar Pradesh.

‘Muslim community will also vote openly for the BJP’

I have joined BJP because it brought Triple Talaq law and worked for empowerment of women of all religions, she said asserting that BJP will form the government after the polls and the Muslim community will also vote openly for the party.

Nida Khan had earlier questioned her father-in-law, Taqueer Raza Khan, saying that he is the “one who could not fight for his own family” but is now talking about women’s rights.

“My father-in-law (Tauqeer Raza Khan) is talking about women’s rights only because he considers Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra as his sister. I believe that a girl can fight for her rights herself. However, let me tell you that he never endorsed or talked about women’s rights in our family,” ANI quoted Nida as saying.

Sharpening her attack she further said that in his recent interview with a news channel, her father-in-law claimed that he supports the rights of women in his family but I do not believe this.

‘Father-in-law failed to stop the exploitation of women in his own home’

“He is just saying this as his new political gimmick. He never supported us after we complained about the triple talaq matter. He always issues fatwas against women without any evidence or moral grounds. He is the one who never fights for his own family,” added Nida Khan.

The Maulana was in news recently when he called terrorists killed in the Batla House encounter as “martyrs”.

“Had there been a probe, the world would have known that those killed were not terrorists and should be given martyr status,” he had said.
