PIL against the Covaxin trial for the age between 2 to 18 years at Delhi High Court .

Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Ashwini Kumar Choubey had informed last week that the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) has approved the second and third phase of covaxin test for people between the age group of 2 to 18 years.

After this decision of the government, India started preparing for Vaccine testing, but now this work is expected to take more time as a public interest petition has been filed in the Delhi High Court against the test on Tuesday.
It is worth mentioning that DCGI had already given approval for starting the second and third phase trials in the age group of 2 to 18 years, while a notification has also been issued by the Central Government. A Public Interest Litigation has now challenged in the Delhi High Court against this notification. The petition termed the second and the third phase clinical trials of covaxin produced by Bharat Biotech on people between 2 and 18 years of age unreasonable.


On Tuesday, Dr. VK Paul, Member (Health), NITI Aayog, said that the Drug Controller General of India (DCGE) has approved Covaxin for the second and third phase clinical trials in the age group of 2 to 18 years. . It has been told that the trials will begin in the next 10-12 days. India would conduct a trial of 525 healthy volunteers of biotech covaxin at AIIMS in Delhi and Patna and at the Meditrina Institute of Medical Sciences, Nagpur. There are many deaths in the country due to the second wave of Corona at this time. It is being said that a third wave of corona may also come next year.
