Tamil Nadu Extends Lockdown Till August 23 With New Restrictions

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Friday announced a night curfew, starting from 9 pm, in the state. He further ordered weekend curfew in districts bordering the neighbouring states of Kerala and Maharashtra, which have been reporting high number of coronavirus cases.

The Tamil Nadu government on Friday announced its decision to extend the lockdown in the state till August 23 while adding new restrictions to the existing ones. Meanwhile, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Friday announced a night curfew, starting from 9 pm, in the state. He further ordered weekend curfew in districts bordering the neighbouring states of Kerala and Maharashtra, which have been reporting high number of coronavirus cases.

American pharma conglomerate Johnson & Johnson has sought emergency use approval from the Central Drug Standard Control Organisation of India to administer its single-shot Covid-19 vaccine.

“This is an important milestone that paves the way to bringing our single-dose Covid-19 vaccine to the people of India, and the rest of the world, through a collaboration with Biological E. Limited. Biological E will be an important part of our global supply chain network, helping to supply our Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 vaccine through the extensive collaborations and partnerships we have with governments, health authorities and organisations such as Gavi and the COVAX facility,” the company said in a statement.
