Human tragedies unite people and end the divides created by religions.

This was proved in the Morbi bridge collapse in Gujarat that has so far claimed 147 lives while the search for the missing continues.

As the bridge collapsed and about 500 men, women and children fell into the waters of Machchhu river in Gujarat and many barely clung to the remnants of the bridge, rescuing those still alive was the priority and every minute was precious.

In this situation, men – Hindus and Muslims – jumped into the river and made several sorties to rescue people.

The Rashtriya Ulama Council has mentioned two Muslim youths who played a key role in rescuing the survivors in its post on Twitter.

They have been identified as Taufeebhai and Hussain Pathan.

The Rashtriya Ulama Council said:

Two angels! Taufeeq Bhai and Hussain Pathan! While Taufeeq Bhai took 35 lives to the hospital, swimmer Hussain Pathan saved 50 lives by swimming. The newspapers of Gujarat are reading their tales and God’s men are telling them. Will those who spread hatred against their society get rid of their habit?

Calling them angles, the Rashtriya Ulema Council said while Taufeeqbai saved 35 rescued persons to hospital, swimmer Hussain Pathan saved 50 lives by rescuing them from the river.

The council asked the hate mongers when will they give up their ways ad even the local newspapers are praising the duo.

Interestingly, Taufeeqbai was in the hospital where his wife delivered their daughter when he heard of the accident and rushed to the hospital.

Local saw Taufeeq help everyone forgetting to take care of his wife and the newly born baby girl.

Divya Bhaskar, a local Gujarati language newspaper has reported that Bajrang Dal activists rescued 170 lives in the tragedy. Chirag Parmar is one of the Bajrang SDal activists who was an eyewitness to the tragedy and got involved in the rescue operation.

Parmar said, “it was heart rendering to see children and women crying for help and getting drowned.”
