UP: Bride refuses to marry groom during nikah, ties knot with lover at police station

A bride in Uttar Pradesh’s Kushinagar called off her wedding at the last minute during the nikah ceremony. When her family tried to force her to marry the groom, the bride called the police and revealed that she wanted to marry her lover. The police reached the spot and took them to the police station where the bride tied the knot with her boyfriend.

The police called the girl’s father and the groom’s side to the police station and settled the matter. On the persuasion of the police, both parties finally agreed and the bride was married to her lover at the police station.

The bride told the police that her family members want to forcibly marry her while she wants to marry her lover in the Nagar Panchayat Ramkola.
