The Central Government has informed the Delhi High Court about the action being taken against the protesters over the violence in Delhi during the tractor rally on 26 January.

The Central Government has informed the Delhi High Court about the action being taken against the protesters over the violence in Delhi during the tractor rally on 26 January.

The Center informed the Delhi High Court that substantial steps had been taken in connection with the violence of 26 January. The Center said that 43 FIRs have been registered in the case so far, out of which 13 have been transferred to Delhi Police’s Special Cell.

The Principal Public Prosecutor informed the Court , “We are invoking the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) in the FIR which includes the banned entity Sikhs for Justice'”.

Significantly, the Delhi High Court on Tuesday directed the Center and the police to take action as per law in the FIR registered in connection with violence in the national capital.

A bench of Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice Jyoti Singh issued directions dismissing a PIL seeking immediate release of the alleged illegally detained people by the police in connection with the 26 January violence.
