Patanjali issues clarification on Coronil after WHO’s Remarks

Patanjali, a company owned by yoga guru Baba Ramdev, on Monday allegedly launched coronil tablets, an adjunct drug in the treatment of corona.

The launch took place in the presence of Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan and Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari. Both ministers of the government were part of the inauguration program. In this program, Patanjali claimed that its medicine will be helpful in the treatment against Corona and it has been certified by WHO along with the Ministry of AYUSH, but WHO has rejected this claim of Patanjali. Now the IMA has also expressed displeasure over this whole matter. The IMA has sought a response from the Union Health Minister in this regard.

At the same time, on February 19, Baba Ramdev said that the coronil tablet has been approved by the Ministry of AYUSH and from the World Health Organization. However, Patanjali Managing Director Acharya Balakrishna later said in a tweet that while clearing any confusion we would like to state that our WHO GMP compliant COPP certificate for Coronil has been issued by DCGI, Government of India . It is clear that WHO does not accept or reject any drugs. WHO works to create a better, healthier future for people around the world.
