SC to hear fresh petition over Rafael Fighter plane corruption allegations .
The Rafael Fighter Deal is once again mired in corruption charges.
A PIL was filed in the Supreme Court after the French media made revelations about corruption in the deal. Now the Supreme Court has agreed to hear this petition. The Supreme Court will hear the petition against the Rafale deal after two weeks. However, the court has not given any date.
Advocate ML Sharma filed a fresh petition in the Supreme Court on Monday. In this, he has demanded an independent investigation into the new allegations leveled on the Rafale deal. The Chief Justice said that the court would conduct an immediate hearing on this although he did not give a specific date for it. This petition has been filed after a new revelation by a French portal. The petition seeks to cancel the deal and recover the entire amount along with the fine.
The petition filed calls for an independent inquiry into the court’s supervision of the case. The French media portal has claimed that Middleman was given one million euros for the Rafale deal. According to the report published by the investigation report of the French anti-corruption agency AFA, Dassault Aviation has made some bogus visible payments. An audit of the company’s 2017 accounts showed expenses of 5 lakh 8 thousand 925 euros (Rs 4.39 crore) in the name of client gifts.
