Strict restrictions imposed in Maharashtra over rising Covid 19 cases

In many states, the corona virus epidemic is once again spreading its wings. As before, Covid-19 has once again taken Maharashtra into its grip

The Uddhav Thackeray government has taken several tough decisions in view of the ever increasing corona virus cases in the state. In Maharashtra, strict restrictions have been imposed in many districts such as Nagpur-Amravati. Schools, colleges and coaching institutes have been closed, along with this major markets is also closed on Saturdays and Sundays.


Significantly, in Maharashtra, more than 8 thousand corona virus cases are being reported daily in the past two days. Last Thursday, 8,702 new cases were reported, after which the total infection cases in the state rose to 21,29,821. At the same time, the number of deaths has increased to 51,993. To overcome the cases of corona virus, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has announced a weekly lockdown in Nagpur.


According to the Maharashtra government, there will be a lockdown in Nagpur every Saturday and Sunday, during which the major markets in the district will remain closed. At the same time, orders have been issued to keep schools, colleges and coaching institutes closed till 7th March. Apart from this, from 25th February to 7th March, any kind of event will be banned in the marriage halls of Nagpur. Political and cultural events will not be allowed during this period. In view of Corona cases, the district administration has given instructions to increase the tests to control the infection.

The Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry released data related to the corona virus, stating that a total of 16,577 new cases have been reported in different states of the country within the last 24 hours. During this period, 12,179 patients recovered while 120 patients died due to corona virus. After getting new patients, the total cases of corona virus in the country has increased to 1,10,63,491 and the number of dead has reached 1,56,825.
